As if spiders weren't creepy enough already! I loved it, especially 'spin his own tale'. Once I realized Charlie was a spider, I went back and read that and laughed out loud.

You really got inside Charlie's head. I agree with Brad, the "weave his own tale" was definitely revisited once I was aware you were writing about a spider.
Yesterday I made the mistake of eating when visiting Mr. Solender's site. Today I made the mistake of eating mid-way through the "blood pool" section here. It's good, but not for the appetite.
That he's called "Charlie" is just classic punstership. You could do no wrong after that.
Love the callback to Charlotte's Web. Those misspelled webs were great. And as if spiders weren't horrible enough, now we have to watch out for vampire spiders? /shudder
Very good read. I guessed what was going to happen to Charlie halfway through, but it was still enjoyable. Actually, I might have ended it before the Zuckermans, hinting at what happened to Charlie. Although the sequence with the Zuckermans is very good. One question: wouldn't Charlie's bite have turned the Z family into vampires?
I thought about the affect of Charlie's bite, sort of mentally wrestled with it and determined he would take such a meager amount of blood that he wouldn't turn humans into vampires, but maybe over time... thus, the "pale" reference and Charlie considering a new family.
Peggy, this is the funniest thing EVER. I swear, a vampire spider??? Who thinks of this stuff!!! And he seems like such a cute, affable little dude, you can't help love him and his spell-challenged ways. Little love bug, that's what he is.
I loved it. Charlotte's Web is still one of my all time favorite books. I have read it a minimum of 5 times to my kids in recent years and I still bawl during Charlotte's treatise on friend ship ... and of course when during her death scene. Nice to see that Charlotte's son has a little machismo going on. I laughed ... I'm sure E.B. White would too.
